Puncher Band

Welcome to the Mighty Mason Puncher Band Homepage!

CONGRATS to the MMPB!!! TWO YEARS IN A ROW qualifying for the State Marching Contest!!!  It's been a heck of a year already and the band has gotten off to another great start!  Marching in the Alamodome at state is an amazing accomplishment and one we won't soon forget!  And we won't soon forget the amazing "comeback" we had at Area - jumping from 10th in the prelims to 4th in finals to qualify for state!
We have a Christmas concert coming up on December 14th.  And then we'll get to work on preparing for
UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest coming up in the spring where we will be trying to
achieve division 1's and get a sweepstakes for the 6th year in a row!

Last year was a heck of a successful year and we are looking forward to this one!!  The MMPB advanced to the State Marching Contest this past fall for the first time in 39 years!  We fell just short of making finals, finishing in 10th place in prelims.  It was an awesome experience and we are looking forward to trying to give it another go next year! You can see a picture of the band along with the only other groups from Mason to advance to the State Marching Contest (1981, 82, & 83) on the HS Band page.  Then in the spring the MMPB received a 1st division rating for Concert and for Sight Reading, giving the band a sweepstakes for the 5th year in a row!  Also the band entered their recordings into the OPS (Outstanding Performance Series) contest and all three recordings advanced to the area level.  We had one recording advance to the state level (and another was alternate).  Our recording at state finished 8th place out of the 15 that were there!  Which is an awesome accomplishment and the first time in a LONG time that Mason has had a recording make it to the state round.

This coming fall the MMPB will be working towards another state marching band trip!  We will be working on our show "Rise" this fall in anticipation of the practice contest in Fredericksburg on September 30th, Region marching contest on October 14th, then Area on October 21st, and hopefully to state on October 31st.

Christmas concert is tentatively planned for December 14th and will involve the HS, JH, and possibly 6th grade bands.  And then in the spring we are looking for a contest/trip for the JH Band this spring and will put out more information about that once we figure out where and when we can take them.  All bands (5th, 6th, JH, HS) will perform at the spring concert which is right now scheduled for May 7th.
