I was born and raised in South Texas and graduated from Gonzales High School. I graduated as a first generation college student from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science (2011) and Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Education (2012) and Biology (2015).
While at Texas Tech, I studied agricultural science and sustainability abroad in China and Costa Rica, completed undergraduate research through the Honors College in conjunction with Meat and Muscle Cell Biologists in the Animal Science Department, presented research at universities and conferences including West Texas A&M and Arkansas, participated in various organizations, served multiple departments at TTU, and was on the 2008 Champion Wool Judging Team and 2009 National Champion Meat Science Quiz Bowl Team. Not long after I completed my student teaching in Fredericksburg as an ag teacher and then was offered an opportunity to teach high school students about science!
For 8 years, we have been blessed to be a part of and serve the Mason Puncher Community. I believe teaching in Mason as part of Angelo State University faculty allows for all students the opportunity to post secondary education, with the support and encouragement of MISD staff. We expect excellence, not because of what we do, but because of who we are, individually and collectively.
My most recent adventure as a lifelong learner is completing my Masters Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Colorado Christian University - I will officially be done this December! My husband, Micah, has a passion for all things agricultural, mentoring through public education, and serving others. We have two kiddos, Kamille and Woodrow, two Schnauzers, and some Herefords.
