My name is Melany Canfield, and I am thrilled to be back in Mason. I graduated from The University of Texas with a degree in English, and I taught English here at MHS for five years. I completed my graduate work at the University of West Alabama, and I am now the high school counselor.
I am married to Thom Canfield, and we have raised three girls: our oldest is in grad school at the LBJ School at the University of Texas, we have one at TCU and our youngest is at the University of North Texas. As a former Mason Cowgirl, I have a great love for this community and the opportunities that growing up in a small town affords our students and our girls.
As the high school counselor, I work with all of our students on issues ranging from improving study and organizational skills to handling personal problems to college and career counseling. I have been with Mason ISD for fifteen years, and I am so proud of our district. We enjoy the best students in the best community in the state!
