After graduating from Mason High School in 1989, I attended Angelo State obtaining my Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood with Special Education. My continued studies include over twenty graduate college hours in guidance and counseling from East Texas State University, Commerce, now, Texas A&M, Commerce, and a certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education from Texas Tech Graduate School. Since returning to my hometown of Mason in 2003, my teaching experiences include Special Education Life Skills, Special Education Inclusion Junior High and High School as well as Deaf and Hard of Hearing students. Prior to MISD, I taught Preschool Programs for Children with Disabilities, Prekindergarten, and Middle School Content Mastery and Self-Contained. Entering my twenty-fifth year in education with the opportunity to have taught in most grades from three-year-olds to graduating seniors has provided many blessings. My love is teaching exceptional students finding ways to encourage their learning for a lifetime while instilling a sense of belonging in the educational community.
My son Coleman attended MISD since kindergarten and graduated in 2017 along with our dear friend who lived with us, Bricio. Watching them grow into young men along with their peers who are close to my heart has been a Joy of mine. In my free time, I appreciate working at the family ranch, the river cabins, attending Puncher activities, and most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
