My early life began on a farm in rural Ohio. My extended family still lives in Northwest Ohio. I graduated from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. The fall of 1975 I began my teaching career with a third grade classroom in Ohio. I have been certified to teach in Ohio, Texas, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
In 1976 I married and started following my husband around North America and South America, living in Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, Texas, Mexico, Bolivia, and Peru. Life has never been dull. I have taken graduate courses at Kent State, University of Wisconsin –Whitewater, Walsh College, St. Thomas University, Wartburg Seminary, and the Lutheran Seminary Program of the Southwest.
For 15 years, I taught ESL classes with Austin Independent School District at Sanchez Elementary School. I have had students from Myanmar, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nepal, Guinea, Mexico, Taiwan and the U.S.
We have moved to Mason from Austin because my husband accepted a call as pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Two adult children are also a part of my life. My daughter and son are married to lovely spouses. In my spare time I enjoy books, swimming, and walking in State Parks.
I am delighted to be with the Mason ISD staff as a second grade ESL teacher. I enjoy being part of the Mason community and wearing purple!
