MISD Education Foundation

 

The primary purpose of the Education Foundation is to raise money for Mason TX ISD school programs that are not otherwise funded through tax dollars.  The Mason ISD Education Foundation’s mission is to generate and distribute resources to the Mason ISD teachers to enrich, maintain, and expand programs needed to meet the District’s mission of excellence in education.  Help us meet our goal by supporting our events, while helping our school district.

Since our inception in 2002 we have striven to do our very best to raise funds so that we may in turn provide additional opportunities to our students of MISD.  We appreciate the effort of every teacher to bring their most innovative ideas to create valuable and meaningful learning experiences, with the help of the foundation. The Mason ISD Education Foundation has given in excess of $496,000.  We, in turn, appreciate the support and donations  of our community.
 
Ready to start the school year off right, our teachers and coaches are busy preparing long before students arrive. The Mason Education Foundation looks forward to serving a Teacher Appreciation Breakfast each August as a way of saying "thank you" for your devotion and your hard work.
The Mason Education Foundation has funded WELCOME packets for the High School for several years. Because of enthusiastic response, the program has been introduced to the Elementary and to the Junior High. Counselor Julie Armstrong assembled adorable packets and created motivational t-shirts ensuring new students feel excited about being Punchers and Cowgirls from the moment they arrive. In addition, current students taking part in welcoming others helps them practice inclusion while promoting a welcoming, bully-free culture. "It's a great day to be a Puncher!"
Helping the ESL (English Second Language) classes learn a new language, Justin McFarland takes his students on annual field trips submerging them into real life situations. This year the EF funded an overnight trip to Enchanted Rock where the students set up tents and camped under the Texas stars. The students learned about rope and harness safety, preparing camp meals, geography and map orientation...ALL IN ENGLISH. After returning to school, the ESL students sent thoughtful handwritten "thank you" notes to The Foundation as a way of practicing their English and Grammar.
In an effort to improve school attendance, Mason Education Foundation funded the Awarding for Success Grant. All K-8th grade students with perfect attendance were included in a drawing for ESPECIALLY cool prizes. Good attendance determines a school's federal funding and is proven to help student performance tremendously. The kids were all smiles upon receiving gifts!!!
Megan Bierschwale and Ryne Kahan submitted a MISD Education Foundation grant request to Tech Up the Library. By adding the Smart Television to our library, students at MHS have been able to live stream movies, documentaries, and speeches for dual credit and AP courses. UIL students are able to watch news programs and gather information from multiple for specific topics related to current events, social studies and debate.
Our 5th Grade teachers annually request funds for a field trip to The Science Mill in Johnson City. It provides exhibits such as “The Story of Water”, “Bio-Lab”, “Critter Bots”, “Race Track”, and “Energy Games”. The Science Mill is a day filled with hand's on learning for all the 5th graders. MISD's Education Foundation is always proud to encourage the subject of science.
To meet the needs of the various levels of learners including ELLS, Dyslexic, and Special Education students diverse educational centers allow the child to become more engaged. When using programs such as Lexia, IStation, and Imagine Learning to enrich the skills of the student, there is also a need to have actual hands on activities. Our path to diverse learning is crippled when we are only available to provide limited differentiated experiences.
