Mason One Act First Runner-up at State
The Mason High School production of scenes from “Rabbit Hole” took the stage at 10 p.m. in the Round Rock Performing Arts Center on May 4, 2018. After starting the day at 5 a.m. to allow for required meetings, navigating through Austin traffic on a school bus from location to location, plus holding extreme focus in tech rehearsal, the company proved its mettle, telling a solid, believable, truthful, family story that touched hearts.
The adjudicator chosen to give oral critique remarked that Mason’s strength was realistic, natural acting with remarkable overlapping, believable dialogue. In written critique, the other judges wrote “strong, thoughtful production...well-developed characters...direction and staging were top notch...design simple and extremely effective... students understand conflict ...listened very well.”
Seniors Kade Willimack and Grace Chapman were awarded State All-Star Cast medals. Other students in the troupe are Julie Mae Drazan, Ethan Powell, Reagan Standard, Victoria Baltierra, Grace Perlichek, Caroline Lemke, Catherine Lemke, James Simonton and Parker Standard. Directors are Jacki Maenius, Merlina Gamel, Cindy Powell and Sherry Keller. Other schools in the finals were Christoval, Mt. Enterprise, Plains, Electra, DeLeon, Colmesneil and Three Rivers.
The company would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to our community members who value the importance of theatre in the lives of our students at Mason High School.
