MHS Internship Program
One of the most difficult decisions facing high school students is determining future career goals. Some students will head to college, others will seek some form of training or certification, and many will go straight to work. Juniors at Mason High School have the opportunity to explore exciting career options and influence their future decisions through the MHS Internship Program. The program includes a soft skills workshop, interaction with professionals from the community, and a one-week, unpaid internship during the month of June (after their junior year) in a career field of their choice. The program aims to equip students with employability skills, foster self-reliance and self-directed learning, and develop responsible citizenship. Students will become aware of the opportunties for employment in Mason and surrounding areas and develop a network of professionals they can rely on in the future.
All MHS juniors are eligible to apply for admission to the MHS Internship Program.
Rural Health Program
The Mason High School Rural Health Program is a partnership between Mason ISD and the Texas A&M University College of Medicine (TAMU/COM). The goal of the Rural Health Program is to increase access to quality healthcare in rural areas. One avenue for accomplishing this goal is to provide school aged children in rural areas with early exposure to medical school entry requirements and medical careers. Students learn about the preparation and admissions process for medical school, nursing, and other health related careers. They also have the opportunity to interact with health care professionals. All students who participate in the Rural Health Program are eligible to attend Mini Med Camp, a two day camp hosted by the TAMU/COM.
